About this site

Purpose of this site

The Amazon FBA Hazmat Checker is a free, independent tool that helps Amazon sellers work out whether a product is likely to be classed as a hazardous material (hazmat) in Amazon fulfilment network. Many everyday products - batteries, aerosols, magnets, flammable liquids, certain cosmetics - are treated as hazmat, which changes how, or whether, they can be sent to FBA.

Getting caught out by a hazmat classification can mean blocked listings, removed inventory and a slow review process. This tool helps you anticipate whether a product may trigger a hazmat review before you send it in.

How it works

The checker runs entirely in your browser. You describe the product and its contents; the tool flags common hazmat triggers - lithium batteries, pressurised or flammable contents, oxidisers and similar - and indicates whether documentation such as an SDS (safety data sheet) or exemption sheet is typically needed. It is a guide, not an official Amazon determination.

Independent and neutral

This is an independently operated site that builds simple tools to remove the friction from selling on large marketplaces. We are not affiliated with Amazon, and the checker does not collect or store your answers; everything is processed locally in your browser.

Before you rely on it

This is a planning guide only - whether a product is hazmat and what documents are required is ultimately decided by Amazon and applicable regulations, so the result here is an informational estimate, not professional advice. Please review our disclaimer and confirm current requirements in Amazon Seller Central.
